Insurance Enrollment

                         Health Care Reform is Here!
                   Know your rights and responsibilities.

The state has passed a law requiring all eligible Massachusetts residents of certain income levels to obtain health care insurance. You may now be eligible for a new program called the Commonwealth Care Health Insurance Plan.  Enrollment in Commonwealth Care is limited to adults age 19 and over.  Children will continue to be covered by MassHealth.

If you are within the income guidelines, you will receive a letter from the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority asking you to enroll in one of their health plans within 14 days.  If you have not enrolled with Commonwealth Care in the grace period of 60 days, your Health Safety Net (HSN) will be closed.  When you lose your HSN, you will have no insurance until you are fully enrolled with Commonwealth Care.

Once you receive this letter from the Connector, you should come in to see a Health Benefits Counselor to help you enroll.  If you would like further information, please call our Health Benefits department at 617-208-1563.
