Awards

Dr. Leonard Contardo, Optometrist, was named Outstanding Preceptor of 2007-08 by the New England College of Optometry.  Dr. Contardo supervises approximately a dozen students each year at JMSCHC.

Sonia Ventura Mee, Director of Counseling and Community Services, was named an "Unsung Heroine for 2007" for her tireless efforts in the JMSCHC catchment area by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women.

The entire Community Services team, consisting of Alicia Castro, Nair Alves Rocha, Jacqueline Caceres, Ema Mecagni, Kim Nguyen  and Shela Desire-Charlot, along with their manager, Francisca Guevara, was recognized for its services to JMSCHC patients at the 2007 annual meeting of the Community Health Education Center.

In October 2007, Alex Nothern, Lauren McPerson and Natalie Tarbet represented the health center in the Waltham Partnership for Youth Community Spelling Bee, tieing for first place with the League of Women Voters, Waltham.
